15th Annual New Home Marketing Retreat Details

What Makes The Marketing Retreat A Must Attend Event?

The New Home Marketing Retreat is unique and unlike any program you’ve ever attended! Here’s what makes this program so exceptional —

  • Timely Topic — Today’s housing market is loaded with challenges, and it’s about to get much more challenging. When the market turns, will your marketing approach and your marketing team help make you a survivor . . . or a statistic?

  • Practical Advice — The Retreat focuses on real solutions you can apply for measurable results. No fluff here, folks (or as one of our alumni put it, “More chicken and less feathers!”), just sound marketing principles and the art of how and when to apply them to your unique situations.

  • In-Your-Face Honesty — Much of what passes as marketing wisdom at many industry programs is often trendy, but simply not true. The Marketing Retreat will tear down many presumed marketing rules of thumb, and perhaps challenge many of your own idioms. However, if you’re open minded and up to a challenge, you won’t be disappointed.

  • A Marketing PhilosophySo many programs offer dozens and dozens of “good ideas” in marketing, decorating, advertising, architecture, etc., but nary a single principal, underlying truth or system of thought. When you were in school, copying the answers to a test from another student would only work if you had the exact same problems on your test. In real estate, you never have the exact same problem. At The Retreat, we don’t want to just “give you the answers.” We want to show you a philosophy that you can apply yourself to find the right marketing solutions to your unique problems.

  • Faculty — The curriculum for the Marketing Retreat has been developed by Kevin Pfeifer, one of the country’s most highly regarded housing consultants and seminar instructors. If you’ve never been to a Kevin Pfeifer seminar, you’re in for a unique experience! Brutally honest, practical, and entertaining is how previous attendees describe him (see our testimonials!). He’ll be joined by an outstanding faculty, including top builders and marketing experts like Larry Webb, Kirk Chittick, Chuck Graham, Scott Laurie, Kelly Borgen, Steve Ormonde, Paul Bresenden, Bob Mirman and others who share in The Retreat philosophy.

  • Benchmarking — From the seminar itself to the housing tour, cocktail receptions and special events, you’ll enjoy and learn from the fellowship of some of the best in the business in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. Renew or begin friendships that will carry the networking opportunities long into the future. And what better place to do it all than in beautiful Newport Beach, California!

"Definitely worth the TransAtlantic trip. Thanx!"

Who Should Attend?

While The Retreat is primarily designed for the Chief Marketing Officer (“CMO" — typically the principal, president or VP Sales & Marketing), it can also be a great resource for anyone involved in the new home marketing process . . . from Owners to Marketing Directors, Sales Managers and even entry-level personnel who aspire to one of those positions in the future.

Many, if not most of the principals and top level executives in our industry have come up from the construction or finance side of the business. Likewise, most sales and marketing directors come from the sales side of the business, as opposed to marketing. Both groups can augment their professional experience, regardless of their current expertise, with the information and principles they will learn at this event.

The old adage, “We waste half our marketing dollars. We just don’t know which half!” is still very much alive and well in the age of the Internet. Builders who perhaps never fully understood or really appreciated the “necessary evil” of traditional marketing, can be easily overwhelmed by the web of buzzwords thrown around in today’s high-tech world (CRM, IOE, SEO, SEM, Psychographics, etc., etc.).

Today’s high-tech marketing holds vast promise, but it’s still very easy to spend hundreds of thousands of marketing dollars and waste much of it. The Marketing Retreat will focus on achieving effectiveness first, and then efficiency, in today’s “Internet of Everything” approach to marketing. You’ll discover the most efficient and effective balance between old school and new.

"This is the first time I have ever heard a truly rational approach to marketing. Great!"

Program Highlights/Key Topics

From market research to product strategy, promotional marketing and sales management, you’ll come away with a myriad of new ideas. Here are just some of the highlights —

  • Castles of sand. Why this housing “recovery” has been the most unusual and problematic in history, and what this bodes for the future.

  • Much of your research dollars may be a waste of time and money . . . and what you can do to fix it.

  • How to dramatically improve your market research with a 2-page report that answers most key
    questions quickly and inexpensively.

  • How to develop a written marketing plan on the back of a napkin (well, almost!)

  • Turning research into cutting-edge product — keys to finding your optimal product strategy.

  • Top product trends for today’s key demographics. You’ll come back with dozens of new ideas from
    the Housing Tour alone!

  • How to grow your company right into bankruptcy (and 3 strategies for healthy growth).

  • Brand Marketing vs. Project Marketing in an Internet World . . . and why one is still a money trap.

  • Psychographics and other fallacies about marketing.

  • A 360º view of successful digital marketing, from websites thru eblasts, SEO, online ads and social media.

  • Double the effectiveness of your digital dollars without spending an extra nickel.

  • How to measure online and offline marketing, from the ad all the way to the close (without spending a fortune).

  • "But they interviewed so well!” How to avoid hiring disasters!

  • How to throw away all your hard work with a used car sales philosophy.

  • Dealing with high-maintenance salespeople (and why you should)!

  • “I’m not saying it’s your fault." I’m just saying “I’m going to blame you!” (and other sales management gems).

  • Why secret shopping your sales staff is almost always a disaster, and much better ways to evaluate your sales team.

  • Realtors. Our complicated marriage and how to make the best of it without wasting any more money.

  • How to get the most from your ad agency (and interior designers) without spending more money in the process.

  • How to be a conglomerate and not a company . . . and why your profitability depends on it.

"I've never attended a program that I enjoyed more and learned more from than the Marketing Retreat. So often seminars are boring and don't fulfill their brochure promises. This program exceeded my expectations!"
